About us

The High-Performance Center for Single-Cell Technologies LZ-EZT is a collaboration between the Fraunhofer Institutes IMM and IPA, with locations in Mainz and Mannheim. Since 2025, we have been combining cutting-edge expertise in microfluidics, clinical health research, and automation to enable the efficient and reproducible isolation, processing, and analysis of single cells. In this way, we are laying the foundation for applications in personalized diagnostics, regenerative medicine, and 3R alternative methods.

As a transfer-oriented, regionally rooted, and well-connected center, we support partners from academia, healthcare, business, and politics in the Rhine-Main and Rhine-Neckar regions. We guide projects through various stages of development, provide targeted support for transfer-related calls for proposals, and accelerate the transfer of knowledge to the business sector in order to sustainably strengthen the region’s healthcare and biotechnology industries.

Our Guiding Principles

Transfer-Oriented – We address specific challenges in the healthcare industry through complementary expertise and promote innovative, needs-based solutions as well as their transfer to the private sector.
Regional – We bring together regional partners from academia, clinical practice, industry, and politics, enhance the region’s national and international reputation as a hub for biotechnology and health research and serve as a central point of contact for single-cell technologies.
Networked – We offer workshops, conferences, training courses, infrastructure, and connections to existing networks, and function as a dynamic ecosystem for strategic networking and professional development.
